What is Concrete Flatwork?
Flatwork is any horizontal concrete surface. That includes garage floors, shed slabs, workshop floors, equipment pads, basketball courts, RV pads, and more. If it is flat concrete that supports weight or provides a stable surface, it falls under flatwork.
These slabs need to be strong and level. Unlike decorative concrete where appearance is the priority, flatwork focuses on structural integrity and function. That does not mean it has to look bad. A well-finished concrete slab with clean edges and a smooth surface still looks professional. But the real work happens in the preparation and concrete specification.
Building Slabs That Last
A concrete slab is only as good as what is underneath it. We start every slab project by evaluating your soil and preparing the base properly. Soft or expansive soil gets removed and replaced. We bring in compacted gravel to create a stable base that will not settle over time.
Concrete thickness depends on what the slab will support. A storage shed might only need 4 inches of concrete. A garage where you park vehicles needs at least 4 to 6 inches.
